Welcome To Woodberry Down

Woodberry DownOriginally a country estate, Woodberry Down was built a hundred years ago for a wealthy family and their servants. Between the wars it was used as a prep school. During World War II American soldiers trained here for D day. It then became a country hotel. For the last 42 years it has been a study centre.

 Value for money

We aim to keep our prices down we offer hostel accommodation. We have four independently-accessed landings where six to eight students sleep in comfortable bunk bedded dormitories, each with washbasin, hanging space and a locker for each person. Each group has its own landing where there are separate toilets and showers for mixed groups. All rooms are centrally heated. An efficient drying room deals with those wet clothes. There are boot racks at each entrance for dirty shoes.

Dietary Requirements

Our dining room can accommodate up to 100 students at a sitting. We serve an English breakfast, packed lunch and full evening meal, always with a vegetarian alternative.  We are happy to cater for special dietary needs - please let us know if you require this.

Friendly and flexible

Woodberry Down is an independent, family run residential centre. All our family are enthusiastically involved, each caring for a different aspect of our guests' comfort. We believe this makes for a more friendly and flexible atmosphere.
